Welcome to our website for the reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools-Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC). The process of preparing for reaffirmation has provided us an opportunity to examine where we have been, where we are headed, and what changes are necessary to ensure students “depart to serve” with the skills pertinent to pursuing advanced degrees and achieving success in their chosen fields.
Bethune-Cookman University, founded in 1904 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, is an outstanding post secondary institution with a rich legacy. Dr. Bethune demonstrated that education was capable of democratizing our society. Today, this legacy lives on in our students as they engage in an academic and social education which includes volunteerism, service learning, and civic engagement.
The University strives to attract and retain exceptional faculty and staff who embrace our beliefs and values and are sensitive to the ever-changing needs of its students based on current trends in the respective fields in which they study. Through Honors Courses, the General Education curriculum, major curricula, faculty and staff development, collaborative efforts between students and professors, and Sponsored Programs, leadership serves as an essential focal point.
The administration, faculty, staff, and students continue to engage in learning from the past to embrace a future full of hopes, dreams, innovations and breakthroughs.
Thank you for taking the time to visit.
